What are the eligibility requirements for a WBE certification?

Mainly the applicant must be a woman and be active in daily managment and own at least 51% of the company.

Woman Business Enterprise Certification WBE Eligibility Requirements
  • Applicant (woman or women) must be active in daily management and own at least 51% of the company
  • Applicant must be U.S. citizens
  • Applicant must work at the firm full time with no conflicting outside employment or ownership
  • Applicant must control the day-to-day operations and be the final decision maker on all company decisions
  • Business must be operational for at least 6 months and have customers/clients
  • One of the woman owners must serve as President or CEO (if the position exists)
  • Business must be legally organized and in good standing as required by all applicable federal, state, county, or city regulations in which the applicant operates
  • Business cannot be the member of a franchise
  • Business cannot be owned by an irrevocable trust. The trust must be revocable, where the woman is the grantor, the trustee, and the sole current beneficiary of the trust
