# What is WBE Certification?

## WBE stands for Woman Business Enterprise

#### Eligibility Requirements for WBE Certification:

- Applicant (woman or women) must be active in daily management and own at least 51% of the company
- Applicant must be U.S. citizens
- Applicant must work at the firm full time with no conflicting outside employment or ownership
- Applicant must control the day-to-day operations and be the final decision maker on all company decisions
- Business must be operational for at least 6 months and have customers/clients
- One of the woman owners must serve as President or CEO (if the position exists)
- Business must be legally organized and in good standing as required by all applicable federal, state, county, or city regulations in which the applicant operates
- Business cannot be the member of a franchise
- Business cannot be owned by an irrevocable trust. The trust must be revocable, where the woman is the grantor, the trustee, and the sole current beneficiary of the trust

#### Benefits of WBE Program Participation:

- The federal government must award 5% (roughly $25 billion) of its prime and subcontract dollars to woman certified businesses
- Business certified as WBE qualify for extra funding, and may be selected in a smaller set-aside solicitation pool than other businesses
- Access to procurement's on the Federal & State level
- Internet listings on government websites as a Woman-Owned Certified Organization.
- Procurement fairs & trade shows targeted to Woman-Owned businesses
- Assistance on a set-aside procurement for Woman-Owned businesses
- Access to procurement lists and 1000+ private & public sector purchasing contracts
- Usage of WBE logo on your website, company letterhead and marketing collateral
- Access to a current list of supplier diversity & procurement executives at hundreds of major U..S. corporations and Federal, State, & Local Government
